7th Grade Science Project:
As always, no need to purchase stuff. Painted tinfoil makes great mountains and trees! Legos can be made into animals or trees. Use stuff you have at your house!
Students may choose one of the three choices below to accomplish this project:
1. Create a Biome
a. Choose a Biome from the book (textbook pages 379-389 describe the different biomes we discussed during class)
b. Create a 3D diorama in a shoebox (I showed them examples of students' projects from the past)
c. On the outside of the box, include:
~ Student's name
~ Biome's name
~ A map colored showing where to find the biome
2. Create a Food Web
a. Reference page 407 of the book for what a food web is!
b. Choose a biome and figure out what animals eat each other and what plants the herbivore's eat
c. Make a poster illustrating all the interactions (do not choose the web they have)
d. You can draw the plants and animals or even print photos.
e. Connect the plants and animals by gluing down yarn or string, or even just drawing an arrow between the organisms.
3. Backyard Ecosystems
a. Follow the directions on workbook pages 217 & 218
~ Abiotic are the nonliving things (water, air, soil, etc.)
~ Biotic are the living things (plants, animals, insects, etc.)
c. Sit and observe for 15 minutes or more
d. Answer the questions about your observations on workbook 218
e. Record your findings in the chart on workbook 219
