8th Grade Science Project (03Dec'24)

Students are to choose ONE project:

Project is due the Tuesday after Thanksgiving Break.


1. Model of the interior of the Earth

~ Use the information found on pages 91-92

~ It could be a cake, layers of construction paper, layers of sand, styrofoam, cardboard, etc.

~ As always, I do not expect you to buy a bunch of stuff for the project

~ Be sure to have a key to show how each section is represented

~ Here are some examples of what it could look like:



2. Young Earth vs. Old Earth Book

~ Create a mini-book

~ Use the timelines from the textbook

        * Old Earth: page 108-109

        * Young Earth: page 114-115 

~ Make each time period a page of the book

~ Each page should have

         * a picture of what happened

         * a paragraph describing what's happening

         * the years of the event

~ Be sure to present BOTH points-of-view

~ Be ready to present in the classroom, using the overhead projector!

~ Here are some examples of what it could look like:

  



3. Noah's Flood Poster

~ Create a construction-paper size poster

~ Write the verses referenced for each event

~ Create a timeline, use textbook pages 116-117 for information

Veteran's Day Project

Two Choices:

1. Interview a Veteran and make a poster about him/her

Requirements:
   ~ Construction Paper size
   ~ Decorate it patriotically
   ~ Get a photo of him/her in uniform if you can
   ~ Write their name
   ~ Write their branch of service
   ~ Write what their role in the military was
   ~ Write the years in service
   ~ Write a paragraph about the greatest lessons learned during his/her career

2. Memorize "In Flanders Field" and recite it to the class - Poem Link

6th Grade Project Ideas...

Students are to choose ONE cell project:

(due FRIDAY)

1. 3D Cell Model

~ Text Pg 88 describes the cell model

~ I do not expect you to buy anything...cardboard, clay, legos, etc. is fine!

~ Photos of cell models


~ You can even make a cake to share!!

~ Be sure to label each part of the cell

~ The presentation is half the grade, so be sure to practice understanding what each part is and what it does!!


2. City Cell Model

~ Text Pg 89 and Wkbk 63 describes this project

~ Notes to help understand the functions of each part of the cell compared to a city: link

~ You can create a skit, as seen during class!

~ You can create 3D model



~ You can create a map of your city



~ Be sure to label each part of the city with the corresponding cell part!

~ The presentation is half the grade, so be sure to practice understanding what each part is and what it does!!
